Our Speaker's Bureau: Themes for Conversation

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

Request a speaker for your church or mosque to talk about how We Can Stand Together!

Rector Ed Bacon in conversation with Edina Lekovic, one of our Advisory Board Members, at the All Saints Forum in Los Angeles. They spoke about being good allies for each other and speaking up!

We have launched a Speakers' Bureau!

If you would like someone to speak to your mosque or church congregation about why interfaith engagement is critical, and how to start your own Standing Together Project,

we have a list of speakers from both Christian and Islamic traditions who are happy to

share more about the project with you. You can also call upon our speakers to participate in educational dialogue events, panels and workshops. List of available speakers:

* Imam Jihad Turk, President, Bayan Islamic Graduate School * Dr. Grace R. Dyrness, Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace

* Rev. Dr. Thomas Johnson, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

* Samia, Bano, Interfaith Leader and Happiness Expert

* Tasneem Noor, The Faith Connector * César Domínguez, Imam, Los Angeles Latino Muslim Association

  • “The Beautiful Image and Word of Islam”

  • “The Most Beautiful Names of God”

  • “The Path to Islam: Story of a Conversion”

A common prayer: verses from the Bible and the Qur’an:

“May these words of my mouth

and this meditation of my heart

be pleasing to your sight, Lord,

my rock and my redeemer.” [1]

“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God,

and God in him.” [2]

“… the Lord of the Worlds, who has created me

and is the One who guides me, who gives me to eat

and to drink and, when I fall ill, He gives me health,

and who will cause me to die and will give me life.” [3]

“My soul thirsts for God, the living God.

O when will I come to appear before God.” [4]

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” [5]

“Say, to whom belongs what is the heavens and the heart?

Say, to God. He has willed upon Himself the law of mercy …

In the remembrance of God, hearts find their rest …

And when the prayer is ended, then you may disperse through the land

and seek the bounty of God.”[6]
